The Woman’s Studies Center is one of the entities dedicated to understanding Woman’s issues in Iraq and finding ways to empower them to become leaders in the development process. It is a research institution at the University of Baghdad, with its primary mission being the production of field research and specialized studies, and the training of qualified researchers to address issues of gender justice, as well as promoting awareness, training, and development in these areas.
The idea for establishing the center dates back to 2011 when the Ministry of State for Woman’s Affairs proposed it to the Ministry of Higher Education and sought the necessary approvals. This led to the creation of the first pioneering center in Iraqi universities, focusing on organizing conferences, publications, workshops, seminars, and training courses to develop the capabilities of Iraqi women and maintain the social fabric of the family. The center aims to achieve global publication of its studies and research, keeping pace with modern developments in Woman’s issues locally and in the Arab world.
