Research and study centers represent one of the important indicators of a country’s development, its evaluation of scientific research, and its foresight into future prospects. The study and analysis of issues and problems facing countries is among the most significant roles that research centers generally undertake. This includes formulating scientific visions and proposals related to these issues and providing appropriate solutions.

Academic research centers play a crucial role in reforming various sectors of the state and creating opportunities for necessary changes, ensuring the consideration of the needs of both men and women alike. From this standpoint, the goal was to establish the Woman’s Studies Center to address the issues, aspirations, and challenges facing Iraqi women in society. The center works to tackle the problems of Iraqi women in the current stage, focusing on psychological, social, economic, and political aspects.

The Woman’s Studies Center is a research institution affiliated with the University of Baghdad. Its primary mission is to conduct field studies and research, train qualified researchers to handle social issues, and promote awareness, training, and development in these areas. It is a pioneering scientific center specialized in woman’s issues, aiming to develop and enhance their role in sustainable development. This mission is grounded in Iraqi societal values, national identity, and the Arab and Islamic cultural heritage of Iraq. The center includes three main departments: the Department of Policies and Legislation, the Department of International Society Research, and the Department of Capacity Building and Empowerment, along with various administrative units. Its goal is to empower Iraqi women in all fields through research and studies that align with the government’s program for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
