On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the Department of International Society Research at the Woman’s Studies Center held a workshop for the 16 Days of Violence Against woman’s -in the central Al-Khwarizmi Hall.
The workshop, chaired by Dr. Sinan Salah Rashid and coordinated by Dr. Lara Hassan, was part of Iraqi’s Anti-Drug Week and aligned with the National Strategy 2023–2030, Fourth Pillar: Protecting Woman’s
During the workshop, Dr. Rana Talib Yassin presented her lecture titled “Violence Against Women: Causes, Effects, and Solutions.” And, Assistant Lecturer Rasha Ali Saleh delivered a lecture on “Psychological Support for Survivors of Violence,” while Assistant Lecturer Nuwara Iyad Kazem addressed “The Role of Media in Combating Violence Against Women.”
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including:
•Involving women in the design and implementation of media messages.
•Establishing specialized centers for rehabilitating survivors of violence, including psychological support and counseling services.
•Strengthening scientific research on all forms of violence against women, with a focus on emerging forms linked to technological advancements.
