The Women’s Studies Center, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized on Tuesday, December 3, 2025, an awareness workshop as part of the activities of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, with the participation of a group of female faculty members. Lecturer Lara Hassan Abdullah presented a lecture titled: (Violence Against Women as a Human Security Issue: A Review of International Policies), in which she examined the dimensions of gender-based violence as a direct threat to human security and analyzed the efforts of international institutions to curb it. Meanwhile, Hiba Abdul Mohsen Abdul Karim presented a research paper titled: (Breaking the Silence: A Safe Step to Support Girls in Disclosing Violence), focusing on the importance of empowering girls to express their experiences and providing safe spaces for support and assistance. The session concluded with a paper by Rasha Ali Saleh titled: (Fashion as a Cultural Discourse that Reproduces Symbolic Violence Against Women), which addressed the impact of fashion and clothing on shaping stereotypes and reproducing discrimination and symbolic violence against women.
The session’s recommendations included:
1. Including violence against women as a direct threat to human security in UN Security Council and UN reports.
