On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the Woman’s Studies Center / Department of Policies and Legislations, in collaboration with the Media Department of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain / Woman’s and Child’s Media Center, held scientific symposium titled “The Active Role of Woman’s in Protecting Social Peace from Intellectual Extremism” at Al-Zahraa University for Women in Karbala.
The symposium discussed the crucial role of woman’s in promoting a culture of peace and combating manifestations of intellectual extremism. It also highlighted their importance and status in society, emphasizing the values of tolerance and positive coexistence. The event was attended by researchers and academics from various legal, humanitarian, and social disciplines, as well as a select group of individuals concerned with woman’s and family affairs, including parliament members and officials. The participants underscored the significance of communication among members of society to achieve social development and recognized the substantial role of Iraqi women in various fields. They also stressed the necessity of building responsible families that contribute to societal progress and leadership.
This symposium is part of a series of scientific, methodological, and cultural events organized by the center to enhance societal awareness of woman’s issues and highlight their abilities and potential in establishing a safe and stable environment for a cohesive society—both intellectually and socially.
The symposium concluded with several key recommendations, including:
1. Strengthening joint efforts between academic, religious, and media institutions to enhance the role of woman’s in addressing intellectual and social challenges.
2. Enhancing woman’s role in achieving the society’s strategic goals, supporting positive content, and providing financial and moral support to woman’s through government and official institutions.
3. Promoting educational and cultural media to highlight the success stories of Iraqi woman’s in combating intellectual and sectarian extremism and fostering peaceful dialogue within society
