On Monday, February 24, 2025, the Women’s Studies Center  – Department of Empowerment Research and Capacity Building organized a scientific symposium titled The Impact of Voluntary Work on the Development of Women’s Personal and Social Skills. The event, held in the center’s conference hall, featured the participation of distinguished researchers and academics.
The symposium commenced with a research paper presented by Prof. Dr. Athraa Ismail Zidan, Director of the Center, titled The Impact of Women’s Participation in Voluntary Work on the Development of Their Leadership and Social Skills. The presentation emphasized the significance of voluntary work in enhancing women’s leadership capabilities and improving their communication and community-building skills.
Additionally, Asst. Prof. Dr. Farah Ghanim Saleh from the College of Education for Women – Department of Arabic Language, presented a research paper on The Role of University Professors in Voluntary Participation to Strengthen the Value System Among Generations. She underscored the role of voluntary work in reinforcing societal values and stressed the importance of academic engagement in fostering this culture among students and future generations.
The symposium concluded with several key recommendations:
1.Promoting a culture of voluntary work among women through awareness and training programs.
2.Empowering women through volunteering by providing training programs and online platforms.
3.Supporting voluntary work through partnerships and media coverage to share success stories and encourage participation.
