As part of supporting the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 4 on quality education, Goal 10 on reducing inequality, and Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions—the Women’s Studies Center at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific workshop on Sunday, April 27, 2025, titled “Diaspora Youth Between Social Alienation and the Risk of Radicalization.” The event was held as part of the Cultural and Entrepreneurial Week activities.

The workshop lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Lara Hassan Abdullah, who shed light on current global transformations and the increasing waves of migration, along with the accompanying psychological and social challenges faced by youth in diaspora communities. She explained that many young people experience an inner conflict between the culture of their home country and the culture of the new society, which often leads to a sense of social alienation and loss of belonging.

The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including:
1. Providing training programs for families to help them understand the challenges their children face and to communicate with them using modern educational methods.
2. Integrating curricula that focus on shared human values.
3. Offering job opportunities and economic empowerment for youth, in addition to establishing sports, cultural, and artistic centers.
