The Women’s Studies Center played an active role in the enlightening seminar titled “International Strategies Against Violence Toward Women: The Iraqi Perspective,” held on Thursday, December 14, 2023. The seminar, meticulously organized by the College of Law at Al-Farahidi University, unfolded within the virtual courtroom exclusive to the college.

Dr. Riam Abdul Sattar Al-Mufarji, as the representative of the Women’s Studies Center, delivered an insightful presentation delving into Iraq’s national policies formulated in response to international agreements. Dr. Al-Mufarji emphasized the imperative of executing a strategic national plan to effectively combat violence against women. Furthermore, Dr. Sinan Salah Rashid provided a comprehensive analysis of international agreements addressing women’s issues and the global initiatives combating violence.

The seminar concluded with a series of noteworthy recommendations:

  1. Activation of women’s participation in the political process.

  2. Provision of enlightening workshops on women’s rights and effective strategies for addressing women’s issues.

  3. Ensuring the establishment of appropriate infrastructure within governmental departments and institutions to support dedicated sections and units focused on women’s empowerment.
