On Monday, November 18, 2024, the Department of International Community Studies at the Woman’s Studies Center held a scientific seminar titled “The Role of Women in Addressing Extremist Values and Mechanisms for Combating Them Internationally” in the Center’s conference hall.
The session was chaired by Dr. Riam Abdul Sattar, with Assistant Lecturer Rasha Ali Saleh as the session rapporteur. The seminar included presentations by:
• Dr. Lara Hassan Abdullah, who delivered a lecture titled “The Role of Women in Combating Intellectual Extremism”.
•Ms. Hiba Abdul Mohsen, who presented on “Woman ‘s and Their Constructive Role in Combating Extremist Values in Society”.
•Assistant Lecturer Zainab Mohammed Khalaf, who discussed “The Role of Social Media in Confronting Extremism Among Women”.
The seminar concluded with several recommendations, including:
1.The Ministry of Education should enhance education and awareness by providing educational programs targeting women to raise awareness of humanitarian values and highlight their role in building a society free from extremism.
2.Promoting family dialogue by encouraging the education of children on values of tolerance and respect.
3.Civil society organizations should support women-led initiatives that promote peace and combat extremism through participatory campaigns involving men.
