On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the Empowerment and Capacity Building Division at the Women’s Studies Center held an awareness workshop titled “Drugs and Their Psychological Effects on the Individual and Society,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Talib, a faculty member at the Women’s Studies Center.

This workshop was held in line with the Center’s commitment to societal and national responsibilities in addressing the issue of drug abuse by organizing awareness activities that contribute to raising public consciousness about the psychological and social risks of this phenomenon.

The session included specialized discussions on the psychological consequences of addiction and mechanisms for community-based prevention.

Recommendations:
1. The necessity of providing guidance and awareness programs to combat drug abuse.
2. Strengthening the role of parents through value-based education and proper guidance to reduce the prevalence of addiction.
3. Activating legal and social deterrents as means to curb the spread of drugs.

This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions, and Goal 8 on economic growth.
