The Women’s Studies Center at the University of Baghdad took part in the activities of the international scientific conference organized by Al-Zahra University in the Iranian capital, Tehran, under the title “The Role of Women in Family and Community Health” on May 14–15, 2025. The event was attended by a distinguished group of researchers from various Arab countries.

The center was represented at this scientific event by Professor Dr. Athraa Ismail Zidan, Director of the Women’s Studies Center, Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Hussein, and researcher Julan Hussein from the Center for Psychological Sciences at the University of Baghdad. Their participation came in response to an official invitation extended by Al-Zahra University as part of efforts to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation on a regional level.

During the conference, a distinguished research paper by Dr. Athraa Ismail Zidan was accepted, titled “The Feminization of Poverty and Its Impact on Women’s Education: Baghdad as a Model.” The research was highly appreciated by the scientific committee and was selected as one of the outstanding papers presented at the conference.

As a gesture of mutual appreciation between academic institutions, the delegation presented a commemorative shield bearing the logo of the University of Baghdad and the Women’s Studies Center to the President of Al-Zahra University, along with a collection of Dr. Zidan’s publications. This was an expression of gratitude for the warm hospitality and the efforts made in organizing this scientific event.

The delegation also participated in a number of evening discussion panels that addressed key issues related to women’s and family health within social, legal, and economic contexts. Participants had the opportunity to present their research in three languages: Persian, Arabic, and English.
