The Woman’s Affairs Unit at the Woman’s Studies Center held a workshop today, Tuesday, Feb 4, 2025, on “Woman’s in the World of Information Technology”. The event took place in the center’s conference hall, with presentations by. Dr. Rana Ali Al-Shujairi, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Media, University of Baghdad, and Assitant Lecturer Hala Fouad Abbas.

The workshop featured a research paper titled “Woman’s and Technological Dimensions: Challenges and Opportunities,” aiming to shed light on the role women play in the world of technology, as well as to highlight the challenges they face in the tech industry. Among the most prominent challenges discussed were issues related to effective participation in this field and the gender digital divide.

The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including:
1.Promoting technological education for girls.
2.Providing specialized training through collaboration between educational institutions and technology companies.
3.Offering financial support through facilitated loans to encourage woman’s entrepreneurship in technology.
4.Raising societal awareness to change stereotypical perceptions of women in the tech field.
5.Empowering women in rural areas to access technology and the internet.
