On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Professor Dr. Athraa Ismail Zidan, Director of the Women’s Studies Center, received a high-level official delegation from the Doha International Family Institute in the State of Qatar, headed by Dr. Sharifa Noaman Fadil, Executive Director of the Institute. The visit aimed to strengthen academic and research cooperation between the two institutions.

During the meeting, the visiting delegation was briefed on the Center’s key research activities and scientific publications that focus on women’s and societal issues, based on systematic and scholarly approaches.

The visit also included an extensive discussion that addressed several topics of mutual interest, particularly comparative social studies that examine the status of women in Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

An agreement was reached during the meeting to launch joint research projects and organize specialized academic events that contribute to the development of family and gender studies. These efforts aim to enhance the Center’s knowledge role and align with its strategic goals of building effective partnerships at both regional and international levels.

At the end of the visit, the Doha Institute delegation extended an official invitation to the Center’s administration to visit Qatar, with the goal of developing implementation plans for research initiatives focused on improving the status of the Arab family and strengthening its role in society.

 

This meeting represents a significant step toward achieving the 17th Sustainable Development Goal, which emphasizes the importance of effective partnerships as a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development.
