In celebration of Earth Day, observed annually on April 22, the Quality Assurance Unit and the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Center for Women’s Studies, in collaboration with the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at the University of Baghdad Presidency, organized a volunteer-based awareness campaign on Thursday, April 22, 2025.
The campaign involved the distribution of educational posters throughout various university premises, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and the dangers of climate change. This initiative reflects the University’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness among students and staff.
The campaign’s launch was attended by several academic figures, including Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs; Professor Dr. Athraa Ismail Zaidan, Director of the Center for Women’s Studies; and Dr. Harith Mohammed, Director of the Media and Government Communication Department at the University Presidency, along with faculty members from the Quality Assurance Department and staff of the Center.
This initiative falls within the University of Baghdad’s commitment to supporting the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security 2025—specifically the “Protection and Prevention” pillar, which in its eighth clause highlights the importance of raising awareness about the health and environmental risks associated with climate change.
