On Sunday, June 30, 2024, the Woman’s Studies Center, through its Department of Policies and Legislation, held a panel discussion titled “Woman and Drugs: A Review of Iraqi Legislation.”

During the discussion, Dr. Shaima Majid Al-Haboubi addressed the impact of drugs on woman and society, the prevalence of drug use, as well as the relevant drug laws and strategies that could be implemented to reduce this phenomenon.

The panel discussion concluded with several recommendations, including:

  1. The need for proper awareness of the dangers of drugs, starting from the home and extending to schools and universities.
  2. The necessity for strict legislation to punish drug traffickers.
  3. The importance of securing and protecting borders to prevent the entry of drugs.
