The Woman’s Studies Center at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Psychological Research Center, held a scientific symposium on early detection of breast cancer on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Dr. Ali Al-Wardi Hall.
The symposium included a series of scientific lectures delivered by a group of specialists. Presentations were given by Prof. Athraa Ismail Zaidan, Director of the Woman’s Studies Center; Dr. Shatha Kazem Attra from the Middle Technical University; Dr. Heba Hilal Saleh from the Ministry of Health; and Lecturer Jolan Hussein Khalil from the Psychological Research Center. They discussed valuable information and advice on the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
The symposium concluded with several recommendations, including:
- Utilizing traditional and digital media, including television, radio, and social media, to spread information on the importance of self-exams and early detection.
- Providing awareness workshops for women on how to conduct self-examinations.
- Organizing awareness activities in educational institutions to educate female students about the risks of the disease and the importance of early detection
